Congratulations! Five College of Business Faculty Members Ranked Among the World's Top 2% Scientists, with Two Honored in Both "Career-long" and "Single-year" Categories
Released on October 7, 2026, the latest edition of the "World’s Top 2% Scientists" list—compiled by a research team at Stanford University in collaboration with Elsevier—features both the "Career-long Scientific Impact Ranking" and the "Single-year Scientific Impact Ranking." A total of 9 faculty members from our university made the list, 5 of whom are from the College of Business. Their research fields span "Economics & Business" and "Information & Communication Technologies," highlighting the College's outstanding research achievements and international academic influence.
Among the honored faculty members from the College of Business, Distinguished Professor & Vice President Yu-Shan Chen and Distinguished Professor Kun-Huang Tsai were selected for both the "Career-long" and "Single-year" Scientific Impact Rankings, receiving dual recognition. Additionally, Distinguished Professor & Director of the Computer Center Chih-Chien Wang (Graduate Institute of Information Management) was newly selected for the "Career-long Scientific Impact Ranking," reflecting his long-term dedication to the field of information and communication technologies. Professor Jung-Kuei Hsieh (Department of Business Administration) was newly selected for the "Single-year Scientific Impact Ranking," affirming his academic contributions to business and economics. Distinguished Professor Chi-Chun Cheng (Department of Business Administration) was also selected for the "Single-year Scientific Impact Ranking," demonstrating his continuous accumulation of research momentum.
Based on data from the Scopus citation and abstract database as of August 1, 2026, this evaluation tallies career-long data through the end of 2025, as well as citation impact for the single calendar year of 2025. According to the Science-Metrix classification system, global scientists are divided into 20 main fields and 174 sub-fields. Rankings are based on standardized citation metrics, comprehensively evaluating total citations, the h-index, co-authorship-adjusted hm-index, citation performance across different authorship positions, and a composite indicator (c-score). The objective is to objectively reflect scholars' profound substantive research impact rather than merely total publication volume.

Deepening Southbound Linkages: NTPU College of Business Visits Chulalongkorn University and Srinakharinwirot University in Thailand for Academic Exchange
Deepening Southbound Linkages: NTPU College of Business Visits Chulalongkorn University and Srinakharinwirot University in Thailand for Academic Exchange
At the end of June 2026, a delegation from the College of Business at National Taipei University traveled to Thailand for a four-day academic visit to deepen strategic alliances with top-tier Thai universities. The primary goal of this visit was to strengthen the College's international linkages regarding the quality of business education through practical alignment with AACSB international accreditation. Furthermore, through bilateral dialogues, the delegation sought to understand how both business schools can exert their academic influence in regional markets via teaching innovations and industry-academia research.
To achieve these internationalization objectives, the first stop of the exchange was the Chulalongkorn University Business School. Dean Chi-Jui Huang delivered a keynote speech titled "Global Sustainable Finance Regulations and Trends," providing an in-depth analysis of the challenges that climate change and financial supervision pose to corporate operations. Subsequently, Director Hsiang-Lin Chih of the Center for Corporate Sustainability shared the outcomes of the "Taiwan Sustainability Evaluation (SEED)" developed by the College. He demonstrated how the College leverages academic research to empower practical applications and build influential decision-making tools, a presentation that garnered highly positive feedback from participating scholars and financial industry professionals.
In addition, the delegation visited the College of Business Administration for Society at Srinakharinwirot University (SWU). The two institutions have interacted frequently since connecting at the 2025 AACSB Annual Meeting. This exchange specifically focused on the preparatory strategies and practical challenges associated with the AACSB accreditation system. Dean Huang’s team generously shared the College’s experience in institutional development during its own AACSB re-accreditation process. Professor Chih also engaged in an in-depth dialogue on how business schools can cultivate social impact through research and industry-academia collaboration. During this visit, both sides exchanged constructive ideas regarding future areas for academic collaboration, looking forward to exploring more diverse exchange opportunities based on their strong existing foundation of interaction.
Dean Huang stated that this visit successfully achieved the dual goals of "practical alignment for international accreditation" and "exporting academic reputation." Through this international strategic layout, the College not only accurately grasps the developmental trends of global business management education but will also continue to cultivate substantive partnerships with top universities in Thailand. Looking ahead, the College of Business will continue to use its excellent teaching and research quality as a cornerstone to actively expand a diverse network of academic and industry collaborations. By disseminating its academic vitality into the international academic community, the College aims to pioneer new development opportunities for its future.

National Taipei University Hosts New Frontier Capital Delegation for Exchanges on AI, Sustainability, and Next-Generation Technologies
National Taipei University Hosts New Frontier Capital Delegation for Exchanges on AI, Sustainability, and Next-Generation Technologies
National Taipei University (NTPU) welcomed a delegation from Japan-based investment firm New Frontier Capital (NFC) on May 29, 2026, at its Sanxia Campus. The delegation included NFC CEO Shigeki Usuki, International Executive Director Mika Takeda, and Hitomi Yang, General Manager of Cross-Border Investment Strategy at the J-Origin Asia Fund.
The exchange meeting focused on emerging and next-generation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), sustainability, robotics, green transformation, and deep technology (Deep Tech). Both parties shared perspectives on areas of mutual interest and explored potential directions for future collaboration.
In his opening remarks, NTPU Vice President Dr. Yu-Shan Chen highlighted the university’s longstanding strengths in social sciences, law, public policy, and business management. He noted that NTPU has actively expanded its research efforts in AI and sustainable development, while promoting interdisciplinary research and international engagement.
During the meeting, representatives from NTPU introduced the university’s key research initiatives and industry-academia collaboration programs. Particular attention was given to NTPU’s growing work in ESG metrics, green transformation assessment, and AI applications. The university also shared plans to establish the AI4X Research Center on August 1, 2026. The center will promote interdisciplinary research and talent development by integrating AI with fields such as law, finance, humanities and social sciences, smart manufacturing, and sustainability.
NFC representatives presented the firm’s global investment activities and technology focus areas. Founded in 2007, NFC collaborates with local funds worldwide and invests directly in startups developing next-generation technologies. Its areas of interest include quantum computing, artificial intelligence, advanced materials, carbon-neutral technologies, and Deep Tech. NFC also expressed interest in Taiwan’s strengths in semiconductors, hardware manufacturing, sensing technologies, robotics, and Physical AI.
As part of the exchange, NTPU showcased its industry-academia collaboration achievements, including an AI-driven inductance inspection technology project developed jointly by the university and industry partners. The project integrates machine vision, edge computing, and AIoT technologies to detect defects in miniature electronic components. The system has already been deployed on production lines in Taiwan and Malaysia, demonstrating NTPU’s capabilities in AI applications, hardware-software integration, and smart manufacturing.
Following the meeting, the delegation toured the university library, the NTPU History Museum, and the Haishan Studies Cultural Heritage Exhibition Hall. Through these visits, guests gained a deeper understanding of the university’s history, campus environment, and the cultural heritage of the Sanxia region.
This visit marked an important step in establishing mutual understanding between NTPU and NFC. Looking ahead, both sides expressed interest in maintaining dialogue on AI, sustainable technologies, smart manufacturing, Deep Tech applications, and international collaboration. NTPU also anticipates that the establishment of the AI4X Research Center will further strengthen interdisciplinary research and expand opportunities for engagement with global partners.

Strategic Partnership Strengthened as Dr. Michel Delorme Visits College of Management
Strategic Partnership Strengthened as Dr. Michel Delorme Visits College of Management
On March 27, the College of Management proudly welcomed Dr. Michel Delorme, Dean of the Sobey School of Business at Saint Mary’s University, Canada, for an official visit. The visit not only highlighted the longstanding international friendship between the two institutions, but also facilitated in-depth discussions on global business accreditation trends, sustainable development education, and future collaborative initiatives.
A Foundation of Mutual Trust
The partnership between the College of Management and Dr. Delorme dates back several years to their initial meeting at an AACSB International Conference. At that time, both parties reached a strong consensus on the importance of social responsibility and a global vision in modern business education.
Dr. Delorme’s visit to Taiwan—originally scheduled for an EQUIS accreditation peer review at National Chengchi University—provided a timely opportunity to deepen his understanding of Taiwan’s higher education landscape. Building on the mutual trust established through international accreditation networks, this visit marked both a reunion of long-time colleagues and a significant step toward closer institutional collaboration.
Global Leadership of Sobey School of Business
During the meeting, Dr. Delorme highlighted the Sobey School of Business’s position as a leader in the global academic community. As one of Canada’s oldest and most internationally oriented business schools, Sobey’s excellence is recognized by several prestigious distinctions:
- Double Crown Accreditation: Sobey is among the top 1% of business schools worldwide to hold dual accreditation from both AACSB and EQUIS.
- Pioneer in Social Impact: It was the first institution in the Americas to receive the Business School Impact System (BSIS) label and is ranked 4th in Canada in the Better World MBA Rankings, reflecting its significant contribution to regional economic development.
- Purpose-Driven Leadership: As a UN PRME Champion, the school’s “Lead With Purpose” strategy is at the forefront of the global transformation in management education.
Charting a Sustainable Future
The seminar also featured Professor Chih-Hsiang Lin, Director of the Center for Corporate Sustainability Research, who presented the College’s key achievements in ESG and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Both sides engaged in dynamic discussions on curriculum development in emerging areas such as big data analytics, sustainable finance, and innovative entrepreneurship.
Dr. Delorme spoke highly of the College’s commitment to industry–academia collaboration and ESG research, noting that the two institutions share closely aligned educational philosophies.
New Chapters in Collaboration
Demonstrating a strong commitment to future cooperation, Dr. Delorme expressed his readiness to formalize student and faculty exchange agreements. Planned initiatives include exchange programs and cross-border research collaborations, aimed at providing students and faculty with a more diverse and competitive international platform.
The College of Management noted that sustained engagement with world-class institutions such as the Sobey School of Business will support its efforts in international re-accreditation and social impact assessment. This partnership is expected to further enhance teaching quality and cultivate management professionals with a global perspective and a strong commitment to social responsibility.

UC Irvine Dean Visits Taipei University, Opening New Chapter in Academic Cooperation
On 19 December, Dr. Ian O. Williamson, Dean of the Paul Merage School of Business at the University of California, Irvine, made his first official visit to National Taipei University, signaling a new phase in the partnership between the two institutions.
Dean Williamson was welcomed by President Daw‑Tung Lin, with arrangements coordinated by General Affairs Section Dean Chia-Hui Wang. He was accompanied by College of Business Dean Chi‑Jui Haung, AACSB and International Relations Director Chun‑Yu Lin, College of Public Affairs Dean Min‑Tsann Chen, and College of Social Sciences Dean Chao‑Yin Lin. Dean Williamson later moved to the College of Business, where Graduate Institute of Information Management Director Min‑Yuh Day and College Secretary Po‑Keng Cheng joined the discussions.
Since establishing a sister‑school relationship in 2019, Taipei University’s College of Business and UC Irvine have successfully launched a “Bachelor’s + Master’s Dual Degree Program,” with four students already participating. Building on this success, both sides are now actively exploring a new “1+1 Master’s Dual Degree Model” to broaden academic exchange and student opportunities.
The itinerary included a tour of the College of Business, a commemorative flag‑raising ceremony in the lobby, and a visit to the college’s history gallery. The two deans also exchanged views on attending the AACSB International Conference and Annual Meeting (ICAM) together in April.
Williamson expressed admiration for Taipei University’s achievements in sustainability indices and praised its contributions to social impact. The visit, marked by symbolic gestures and substantive dialogue, has laid a firm foundation for deeper collaboration in the years ahead.

AI × ESG: AI CUP Campus Tour Cultivates Sustainable Tech Talent
AI × ESG: AI CUP Campus Tour Cultivates Sustainable Tech Talent
As global emphasis on corporate sustainability and information transparency continues to rise, Artificial Intelligence is becoming a pivotal tool for analyzing corporate sustainability reports. Supported by the Ministry of Education’s AI CUP project, the "VeriPromiseESG 2026: ESG Sustainability Commitment Verification Challenge" kicked off its campus tour at the Bo-Ai Campus of the University of Taipei on March 6, 2026. The event attracted nearly 50 students via both in-person and online participation to explore innovative AI applications in the ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) sector.
Bridging AI and Sustainability
The seminar was led by Professor Min-Yuh Day, Director of the Graduate Institute of Information Management at National Taipei University (NTPU), and hosted by Assistant Professor Ching-Tai Chen from the Department of Computer Science at the University of Taipei. The curriculum included competition overviews, dataset analysis, and sample code tutorials, designed to help students master AI techniques for text analysis of sustainability reports and encourage cross-disciplinary collaboration.
The VeriPromiseESG 2026 challenge is a marquee event under the Ministry of Education’s AI CUP series. It is a collaborative international effort between National Taipei University, Japan’s National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), and the University of Tsukuba. Focusing on the intersection of AI × ESG × Natural Language Processing (NLP), participants develop AI models to determine if corporate sustainability claims are backed by clear, verifiable evidence, thereby enhancing the readability and credibility of ESG disclosures.
Hands-on Technical Training
As the first stop of the campus tour, the Northern Taiwan session featured comprehensive programming tutorials. Professor Day introduced the research philosophy behind the competition and guided students through the AIdea platform, explaining registration, scoring mechanisms, and data usage regulations.
"ESG has become a critical indicator of corporate governance," stated Professor Day. "AI technology can analyze massive volumes of textual data, significantly improving the efficiency and transparency of sustainability information verification."
The technical sessions provided deep dives into the competition’s mechanics:
- Dataset Insight: Project Assistant Hsin-Ting Lu detailed data sources and field structures to assist students in feature analysis.
- Practical Implementation: Project Assistant Wen-Tse Chen demonstrated the sample code, covering data preprocessing, architecture design, and baseline model construction to lower the barrier for beginners.
Empowering the Next Generation
"By analyzing sustainability reports through AI, students not only sharpen their data science skills but also gain a profound understanding of the role ESG plays in social development," Professor Day added.
The organizing team emphasized that the fusion of AI and sustainability governance is a burgeoning field. Through the AI CUP and its campus tours, the program provides a practice-oriented platform for students to gain project experience using real-world data while deepening their understanding of corporate responsibility.
Competition Details
The AI CUP: VeriPromiseESG 2026 is now open for registration.
- Duration: March – July 2026
